Meet the SLP

Jackie Van Lankveld

Jackie is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and is a member in good standing with the College of Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. She has 35 years of experience as an SLP and truly cares about the children and families she serves.

She has spent most of her career in the public system and has started a part time private practice in order to bring her high level of expertise and knowledge of both the system and community resources to families that may not access public services.


Jackie is the mother of 2 daughters, has been an active member of the Rotary Club of St. Catharines for 15 years and has been a Pelham resident for over 30 years.


Here are just a few of her accomplishments:
  • Current Instructor, Brock University in the Department of Applied Linguistics
      - Clinical Analysis of Speech Pathology – designed and teaching over 20 years
      - Evaluation of Speech and Language Disorders: Principles and Procedures of Clinical Evaluation in Speech-Language Pathology from initial referral to Discharge
  • Certified Clinical Competency by the American Speech and Hearing Association and current member in good standing
  • Interviewed/mentored/supervised over 100 SLPs/Communication Disorders Assistants/Occupational Therapists
  • Certified FLOW Coach
  • Member of the Connected Leaders Academy
  • Graduate of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management Leadership Program May 2019
  • Hanen certified in “It Takes Two To Talk” and current Hanen member
  • Trained in the Motor Speech Pathway of the Speech and Stuttering Institute
  • Original Preschool Speech Language Services System Implementer/Manager for Niagara for 20 years at Niagara Children’s Centre
  • SLP consultant to the Canadian Pediatric Society:
     
     - Task Force on Screen Time (0-5 years and neurodevelopmental disorders) 2015-present (current position statement available at The Canadian Paediatric Society)
      - Task Force on Literacy 2008-2010
  • Co-author of 5 research publications for early language and literacy
  • Over 100 conference keynotes/invited guest speaker/workshop and poster presentations across Canada, USA, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Uganda

In this practice we are serving children under the age of 5 years old.

The answer is :  every child is different and progresses at their own rate.  Additional use of the strategies at home will increase the opportunities for practice and thus, potential gains.

Absolutely! We encourage parental involvement to reinforce learning and support their child's progress at home.
